May 1, 2017

Dear Stage Kids family,

We’ve had a lot of great times over the past 6 1/2 years. So it’s with a heavy heart I’m writing this letter to let you know that Stage Kids CA is closing as of today, May 1, 2017. This decision comes after careful consideration with the Board of Directors over leadership changes and financial struggles. It’s become evident that closing is necessary at this time.

Personally, it’s been a joy to direct and watch your kids shine from the early years at Campbell School District and as a music teacher at St. Frances Cabrini. I had the privilege of directing 11 shows and several camps at SKCA before moving to WA. Many of those kids have graduated or are close to graduating from High School now. I’ve seen an entire generation of kiddos from 3rd Grade to graduation!

We celebrate the growth and childhood memories that hundreds of children have experienced over the past several years being a Stage Kid. They’ve developed theater and life skills, overcome fears and grown in confidence, learned to sing, learned to dance, performed in parks, danced in parades; some have gone on to Light Opera and majored in theater. More than anything, we became a community of friends, like a family- both kids and parents. Thank you for your time invested - for the sewing, building, typing, supervising, organizing, patience and love expressed to the kids. Together we made theater magic!

We’ve been blessed to work with an incredibly talented team - Jenita Nakamura, Susan Rojas and other amazing staff. I know they would love to hear how they’ve impacted your child’s life. The hundreds of photos in my home will be cherished. I’m sure yours will be too. Our Facebook and Instagram pages will remain open as an alumni page to share any memories from your time at Stage Kids in addition to being a place to post your child’s upcoming productions.

Congratulations to the two casts of Mulan who performed with excellence this past few weeks. We hope all of our Stage Kids will continue "developing their character.”
